Eurimages celebrated its 30th anniversary and announced the projects selected for funding this year at its 156th Board of Management meeting, which took place in Strasbourg, France from October 13 to 18, 2019.
Canada loves coproduction, which is just one of the reasons we’re so excited to be a member of Eurimages, the cultural support fund of the Council of Europe. In fact, back in 2017, we became the first non-European country to join, as associate member, and the following year, Montreal, Canada was the host city for Eurimages’ 151st Board of Management meeting!)
Being part of Eurimages is one of the big ways we help open global doors for our homegrown audiovisual industry, including funding, export opportunities, and business and creative partnerships. (We love doing business with international partners, and have international treaties and memorandums of understanding with almost 60 countries worldwide.)
While no Canadian projects were selected this year for Eurimages funding, three Canadian distributors, Elevation Pictures, MK2 Mile End, and K-Films Amérique, were chosen to receive support from its Distribution Support Programme to help with marketing and publicity costs for four eligible films. For more information about these films, check out the official press release, right here!
Oh, and here’s one final fact: since being founded in 1988, Eurimages has gone on to support 2047 coproductions with funding amounting to about 597 million euros!
