Heading to TIFF from September 6 to 16? So are we! Save us a seat right beside you, as Canada’s got a full slate planned to keep you busy and excited about Canadian films, with a spotlight on Canadian talent to encourage the export of our content around the world.

Get your first taste of Cancon at our Eye on TIFF pre-festival screenings in New York, Los Angeles, London, and Paris. Once you get to the festival, don’t miss the always-popular signature industry events like the RDV Canada panel series (previously known as Talent to watch) and the high-profile initiatives that reflect Canada’s focus on supporting women in film and Indigenous content.

Let’s get right into what we’ve got on the docket so far for you at the festival. Are you ready?

First, Telefilm is organizing a special TIFF Industry Breakfast on September 9, in collaboration with imagineNATIVE (the RDV Canada TIFF Breakfast: National & International Funding for Indigenous Content). Next, a beloved classic: the anticipated Birks Diamond Tribute to the Year’s Women in Film, in partnership with Telefilm Canada, has been a not to be missed event for six years and counting. This year, a jury of more than 20 Canadian journalists and bloggers picks six of Canada’s most exceptional female directors, actors, and screenwriters. Discover the 6 honourees here!

And let’s not forget Eye on TIFF! Aligned with its Export Assistance program, Telefilm’s pre-festival screening series brings an exclusive preview of some of TIFF’s hottest Canadian films to international distributors, sales agents, and exhibitors. This year, Eye on TIFF casts its gaze on New York and Paris (August 22, 2018), as well as Los Angeles and London (August 23, 2018).

We’re also excited about the RDV Canada Panel Series featuring great Canadian talent and speakers. Topics will include Producing through Blockchain, How to access international coproduction markets and How some of our top Canadian producers are making it work. Stay tuned for more details!

Canada will also be at the forefront at a number of awesome initiatives at the festival, including Telefilm Canada PITCH THIS! (now in its 19th consecutive year, this popular event offers a $15,000 prize to the winning team); Filmmaker Boot Camp TIFF Rising Stars; and the TIFF Filmmaker Lab. Pssst – Did you know that these events are all presented in partnership with Telefilm Canada?

Don’t forget to come see us at the Canada Lounge! Located in the Festival Industry Centre, it’s a great spot for meetings and networking. For all the details and updated info, check out our programming page.
