Pre-Cannes Screenings
This year, for the first time ever, the Marché du Film will run Pre-Cannes Screenings ahead of its July event: 5 days of online screenings reserved for buyers & sellers, on a platform that will exclusively host virtual booths of sales companies, and streamed screening rooms.

Access to this platform will be strictly reserved to buyers & festival programmers already registered with the Marché du Film (either with an online or an onsite accreditation) and this at no extra cost.

Telefilm Canada, in partnership with the RIDM Forum and in collaboration with The Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Film Festival (Toronto), is pleased to announce the return of the Docs-in-Progress Canadian Showcase – part of Cannes Docs Session at the Marche du Film!
The Canadian Showcase is one of eight events presented by different countries. Four feature-length documentary projects in their final editing stage are pitched to international decision-makers.
It’s the perfect platform for documentary producers looking for international exposure.

The International Financing Forum (IFF) is Ontario Creates’ feature film cofinancing/coproduction event. In its 16 year history, it has introduced hundreds of projects to the international marketplace with over 100 successfully financed to date. Although this event is normally held in-person at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), IFF 2021 will be an all-virtual event!
At IFF 2021’s Virtual Kick Off session, speakers discuss the past, present and future of international coproduction, how to find international coproducing partners, and what to expect for September’s virtual IFF 2021.

Leading Change: An Insider's Look at Successes, Failures and Opportunities

Telefilm Canada’s Christa Dickenson and Anna Serner of the Swedish Film Institute share a unique position: they are both CEO’s of their country’s leading audiovisual institutes. They work to finance, develop and promote an artform that is ever changing, in an industry that is both learning and recovering.
Anna joins Christa for a discussion on the work done and the work ahead given their perspectives as leaders in the industry; from changes within their organizations, to intersectionality, to opportunities and obstacles in a post-pandemic landscape.
Canadians at Cannes XR
XR3 showcases the very best in virtual reality and immersive arts, presenting around fifty virtual reality projects. Connect with fellow participants worldwide in Museum of Other Realities, the exhibition’s real-time virtual space, with your VR headset! While you’re there, head over to the Unity Garden for the Unity for Humanity Showcase to check out two projects produced by the National Film Board of Canada: AGENCE and THE BOOK OF DISTANCE.

The VeeR Future Award 2021 Showcase features the best examples of VR storytelling. The showcase is presented on the XR3 platform and in offline showcases in China to introduce the projects to investors, media and audiences. Out of the 16 projects in the running, two winners will be presented with the VeeR Future Award for Best VR Story and Best VR Interactive experience.

In association with Artizen, the Cannes XR Development Showcase is the must-attend event for the latest XR (virtual reality and augmented reality) projects in-development. Projects will be pitched in sessions to a jury of leaders, distributors and curators in the XR entertainment industry.
