Women directors from Quebec feature prominently in TIFF\u2019s world premiere lineup: Sophie Dupuis\u2019s Solo<\/em><\/a> (a complex drag scene love story); Chlo\u00e9 Robichaud\u2019s Days of Happiness (Les jours heureux<\/em>)<\/a>; and Louise Archambault\u2019s Irena\u2019s Vow<\/em><\/a> (a Canada-Poland coproduction based on the true story of a Polish woman who hid 12 Jews in Nazi occupied-Poland).<\/p>

Making its North American premiere is Ariane Louis-Seize\u2019s Humanist Vampire Seeking Consenting Suicidal Person (Vampire humaniste cherche suicidaire consentant)<\/em><\/a>. <\/em>Also selected\u00a0 is Monia Chokri\u2019s The Nature of Love (Simple comme Sylvain)<\/em><\/a> (Canada-France) which premiered at Cannes earlier this year.<\/p>

Indigenous filmmakers shine bright, including the world premieres of Kim O’Bomsawin\u2019s four-part documentary series Telling Our Story<\/em><\/a>\u00a0, Carol Kunnuk\u2019s Tautuktavuk (What We See<\/em>)<\/em><\/a> and the Canadian premiere of Cody Lightning\u2019s mockumentary Hey Viktor!<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>

Zarrar Kahn\u2019s In Flames<\/em><\/a> makes its North American debut, while the new smartphone-filmed doc by renowned Canadian director Deepa Mehta and Sirat Taneja about a trans woman in India, I Am Sirat<\/em>, makes its world premiere!<\/p>

More of Canada\u2019s iconic filmmakers take the TIFF spotlight, with the world premiere of Atom Egoyan\u2019s opera-themed drama Seven Veils<\/em><\/a> (starring Amanda Seyfried). Denis C\u00f4t\u00e9\u2019s Mademoiselle Kenopsia<\/em><\/a> will make its North American premiere.<\/p>

Tales examining the immigrant experience are also in world premiere: Charles-Olivier Michaud\u2019s Ru<\/em><\/a> tells the story of a young Vietnamese girl and her family\u2019s arrival to Quebec, and Henri Pardo\u2019s Canada-Luxembourg coproduction Kanaval<\/em><\/a> is about a boy emigrating from Haiti to Canada.<\/p>
