Mila Aung-Thwin and Bob Moore will present <strong><em>Midwives<\/em><\/strong>, a co-production with Myanmar by director Snow Hnin Ei Hlaing in the World Cinema Documentary competition. Sara Dosa\u2019s <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/rdvcanada.ca\/en\/product\/fire-of-love\/\">Fire of Love<\/a><\/em><\/strong>, co-produced by Ina Fichman, will open the festival in the U.S. Documentary Competition.<\/p><p>Monia Chokri\u2019s new comedy <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/rdvcanada.ca\/en\/product\/babysitter\/\">Babysitter<\/a><\/em><\/strong>, written by\u202fCatherine L\u00e9ger\u202fbased on her eponymous play, is among the six chosen features that will defy genre in the Midnight program.\u00a0<\/p><p>Chase Joynt\u2019s hybrid feature <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/rdvcanada.ca\/en\/product\/framing-agnes\/\">Framing Agnes<\/a><\/em><\/strong> will be one of the seven works selected in the NEXT program that showcases innovative, forward-thinking approaches to storytelling.<\/p><p><strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/rdvcanada.ca\/en\/product\/bump\/\">Bump<\/a>, <\/em><\/strong>a comedy about retribution for trivial encounters from writer-director Maziyar Khatam, will be featured in the International Live Action Short Film program.<\/p><p>In the New Frontiers program, <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/rdvcanada.ca\/en\/product\/this-is-not-a-ceremony\/\">This is Not a Ceremony<\/a> <\/em><\/strong>from Ahnahktsipiitaa (Colin Van Loon) is an innovative virtual reality documentary produced by the National Film Board.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-39ce247\" data-id=\"39ce247\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2a0f5b1 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"2a0f5b1\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h2><strong>Slamdance <\/strong><\/h2><p><a href=\"https:\/\/slamdance.com\/festival\/#about\">The Slamdance Film Festival<\/a>, which showcases emerging filmmakers and low-budget films, will present its 28th edition from 27 January to 6 February 2022.<\/p><p>Two Canadian features were selected for its prestigious competition. Avalon Fast\u2019s directorial debut <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/rdvcanada.ca\/en\/product\/honeycomb\/\">Honeycomb<\/a><\/em><\/strong>, is a fresh take on female friendship and power in the form of a horror film. Writer, director and actor Ethan Eng\u2019s personal comedy <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/rdvcanada.ca\/en\/product\/therapy-dogs\/\">Therapy Dogs<\/a><\/em><\/strong> is a coming-of-age story that takes viewers on a ride through a group of teenagers\u2019 last year of high school.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p><p><strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/rdvcanada.ca\/en\/product\/in-the-jam-jar\/\">In the Jam Jar<\/a> <\/em><\/strong>directed by Colin Nixon, and <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/rdvcanada.ca\/en\/product\/see-you-garbage\/\">See You, Garbage!<\/a> \u00a0<\/em><\/strong>by Romain Dumont are two contrasting short films featured in the Narrative Shorts section. <strong><em>In the Jam Jar <\/em><\/strong>is a muted tribute to maternal love, while <strong><em>See You, Garbage! <\/em><\/strong>is a dramatic politically-charged comedy.<\/p><p>In the Breakout section of the festival, <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/rdvcanada.ca\/en\/product\/retrograde\/\">Retrograde<\/a><\/em><\/strong> is Adrian Murray\u2019s second feature and comedy to world premiere at Slamdance. His \u201cfighting the system\u201d story explores truth, power and accountability though the eyes of a neurotic young woman.<\/p><p>Eric Piccoli\u2019s <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/rdvcanada.ca\/en\/product\/wipe-me-away\/\">Wipe Me Away (Je voudrais qu\u2019on m\u2019efface),<\/a> <\/em><\/strong>awarded with the Prix Dior de la R\u00e9v\u00e9lation at the CannesSeries Festival, will have its American premiere in the Episodes section of the festival.
