Canada\u2019s next stop is the <u><a href=\"https:\/\/rdvcanada.ca\/en\/festivals\/mifa-2019\/\">Annecy International Animation Film Festival,<\/a><\/u> which happens from June 10 to 15, 2019 in the French city of the same name, and its market component, Mifa, from June 11 to 14.<\/p>\n<p>Canadians will be making waves at both the festival and market, with ten animated shorts plus F\u00e9lix Dufour-Laperri\u00e8re\u2019s animated feature <em><u><a href=\"https:\/\/rdvcanada.ca\/en\/product\/ville-neuve\/\">Ville Neuve<\/a><\/u><\/em> selected for official competition!<\/p>\n<p>But first, at Mifa, our fully-loaded Canada Pavilion will feature networking events with our Argentinian and French partners, and other countries too. More info on all these initiatives will be announced soon. As for the international networking events, they\u2019re meant to help Canadian talent increase access to foreign financing by creating business opportunities to explore coproduction, coventures, presales, and more. And since Canada is big on VR, we\u2019ll also have some awesome animated virtual reality to sweep you off your feet at the new Canadian VR space (stand 6.010).<\/p>\n<p>After its premiere at last year\u2019s Venice Days, F\u00e9lix Dufour-Laperri\u00e8re\u2019s black-and-white <em><u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.annecy.org\/programme:en\/index:film-20193076\">Ville Neuve<\/a><\/u><\/em> is now a contender at Annecy. Animated from ink-on-paper drawings, the poetic feature is about an uncertain couple, set in Quebec during the 1990s, a time of uncertain politics and the referendum for independence.<\/p>\n<p>And our short animated films that made the cut to compete in various sections at Annecy this year are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bogdan Anifrani\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.annecy.org\/programme\/fiche:film-20191006\">DiM<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Valerie Barnhart\u2019s <em><u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.annecy.org\/programme\/fiche:film-20190140\">Girl in the Hallway (Fille dans le couloir)<\/a><\/u><\/em><\/li>\n<li>Pascal Blanchet and Rodolphe Saint-Gelais\u2019 <em><u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.annecy.org\/programme\/fiche:film-20192376\">The Procession (Le Cort\u00e8ge<\/a><\/u>) <\/em><\/li>\n<li>Daniel Gies and Neil Christopher\u2019s <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.annecy.org\/programme\/fiche:film-20191399\">Giant Bear (L\u2019Ours polaire g\u00e9ant)<\/a><\/em><\/li>\n<li>Pierre H\u00e9bert\u2019s <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.annecy.org\/programme\/fiche:film-20190809#resume\">But One Bird Sang Not (Mais un oiseau ne chantait pas)<\/a><\/em><\/li>\n<li>Regina Pessoa\u2019s <em><u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.annecy.org\/programme\/fiche:film-20192376\">Tio Tomas (Uncle Thomas)<\/a><\/u><\/em> (A Canada-France-Portugal coproduction).<\/li>\n<li>Alexandre Roy\u2019s <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.annecy.org\/programme\/fiche:film-20190812\">Jim Zipper<\/a><\/em><\/li>\n<li>Tigris Alt.
