Written, directed by, and starring acclaimed Haitian filmmaker Gessica G\u00e9n\u00e9us<\/strong>, and backed by Montr\u00e9al-based Metafilms as collaborator, this lyrical drama blends realism and subtle surrealism to explore faith, desire, and female autonomy in contemporary Haiti. Shot in Jacmel, the film follows a free\u2011spirited woman whose path crosses that of a young evangelical preacher, unsettling both their worlds. The film marks G\u00e9n\u00e9us\u2019 second feature, following Freda<\/i>, which premiered in Un Certain Regard at Cannes in 2021 and went on to earn more than 25 international awards.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Canada is a minority coproducer in this anticipated thriller making its world premiere in the festival\u2019s prestigious Director\u2019s Fortnight! This third feature from Canadian-Venezuelan filmmaker Jorge Thielen Armand<\/strong>, stars Italian actress Asia Argento and explores brutality, justice, and property rights during the Venezuelan crisis. Inspired by his memoir about the Vietnam war, this feature-length film is a hybrid of documentary and live action. The film is produced by Oscar\u00ae, BAFTA, Emmy nominated and Peabody Award-winning producer, Ina Fichman of Intuitive Pictures Productions.<\/p>

Constanza Chaput-Raby\u2019s <\/strong>Parrandas<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (Les Productions Club Vid\u00e9o)
This Canada-Cuba coproduction tells the story of a young boy who is excited to join his Cuban village\u2019s Christmas eve tradition of revelry and fireworks, even though this ritual nearly killed him 11 years ago.<\/p>

Dan Popa\u2019s Sisters of the Union<\/em><\/strong> (TAK films)
Fantasy and autobiography meet in this tale about communism in Romania, told through the lens of the filmmaker\u2019s family as five women share their perspectives, representing different eras of this history.<\/p>

Sofia Bohdanowicz\u2019s<\/strong> Steve’s Version<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (La Maison du Bonheur Films)
This diary film follows Bohdanowicz as she travels to Europe to try to piece together her grandfather\u2019s life story to make a film about him, at her uncle\u2019s request. Presently developing her sixth feature, this award-winning Toronto-based filmmaker is also known for her features, which have screened at festivals around the world, including the Berlinale, Locarno, TIFF and the New York Film Festival.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
